HOUGHTON LAKE - May 19, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights' softball team picked up its 19th and 20th victories of the season Monday by defeating Houghton Lake 14-6 and 10-0.
Kate Dombrowski was the winner in relief of the opener as she pitched the final five innings and the Falcons bounced back from a 3-1 deficit. She allowed four runs (one earned) on four hits and a walk while striking out two.
The Falcons trailed 6-5 after five innings, but exploded for eight runs in the fifth inning as the Bobcats had trouble fielding the ball in addition to handing out four walks in the inning. On top of that Ogemaw got an RBI double from Jenna Zettel and two-run singles by Kim Wickwire and Ashley Thompson.
Seven different Falcons each had two hits in the game. Angela Carollo had two doubles, Zettel had a double and triple, Ashley Hebert had two hits and two RBIs and Lauren Gillette also had a double.
In the second game, Colleen Wren was in command from start to finish, tossing a four-hit shutout while striking out eight.
Thompson hit a leadoff home run to spark a four-run third inning that extended the Falcons' lead to 7-0.
Wickwire and Tiffani Rouse each had doubles and Carollo had two hits and two RBIs.
