KALKASKA - May 15, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights and Kalkaska traded come-from-behind victories at Kalkaska on Thursday, with each team claiming a 5-3 non-conference win.
The Falcons took the first game, coming back from a 3-0 deficit with a run in the fourth inning and three more in the fifth. Lauren Gillette provided the big hit in the fifth with a two-run triple that followed singles by Angela Carollo and Colleen Wren, as well as an error on a ball put in play by Jenna Zettel.
Wren earned the win by tossing a two-hitter, striking out 10 and walking three.
Gillette also had a double while Carollo had three stolen bases and four Falcons had one hit apiece.
In the second game, Ogemaw took a 3-1 lead into the seventh inning only to have the Blazers score four runs on three hits and a two-out error, followed by an RBI triple to cap the scoring.
Kate Dombrowski took the loss for the Falcons. She came on in relief of starter Kathy Erickson and inherited a one-out, bases-loaded jam in the sixth that she escaped by striking out two Kalkaska batters. Two of the four seventh-inning runs were unearned.
Wren had two hits and an RBI for the Falcons (16-11).
