SAGINAW ARTHUR HILL - Apr. 7, 2008 - Ogemaw heights had no trouble hitting the ball Monday as the Falcon softball squad rolled to a 16-1, 15-2 sweep over Arthur Hill.
The first game took just four innings as Ogemaw used a 10-run third to break open what had been a 4-0 contest. Kate Dombrowski pitched the abbreviated one-hitter, allowing one unearned run while walking two and striking out nine.
Eight different Falcons collected a total of 13 hits, including three by Lauren Gillette and two each from Dombrowski, Jenna Zettel and Ashley Thompson. Zettel clubbed a home run and had three RBIs; Gillette had a triple and drove in four runs, while she and Thompson each scored three times. Dombrowski and Tiffani Rouse each added two RBIs.
Kathy Erickson was the winning pitcher in the second game, which also went four innings. She gave up four hits and one walk while striking out three.
This time the Falcons had 14 hits, with Thompson's four hits, three RBIs and two runs scored pacing the attack. Colleen Wren, Zettel, Ashley Hebert and Rouse each added two hits, with Zettel adding a triple and Angela Carollo a double and two RBIs.
The Falcons (2-0) take on Oscoda in their NEMC opener on Friday at home.
