JOHANNESBURG - May 5, 2008 - Hale dropped a doubleheader at Johannesburg-Lewiston on Monday, falling 15-0 and 6-5 to the Cardinals softball squad.
In the opener, Hale coach Don Spingsteen said "We just didn't look alive at the plate or in the field."
Joburg scored nine runs in the first inning and only needed to bat twice in the three inning game before it ended via the mercy rule.
Lauryn Springsteen started and took the loss, allowing five hits, seven walks and two hit batters.
Kassie Johnson had a triple and Rachel Maher added a single for the Eagles.
The second game started in much the same fashion as Joburg scored four in the first inning. Hale battled back and tied it at 5-5 in the third as Springsteen belted her second triple of the game and Amanda Hendrix doubled.
Joburg scored what proved to be the winning run in the bottom of the third.
Laura Sidebottom started and took the loss, allowing two hits and eight walks in three innings. Springsteen pitched the final two innings and gave up one hit.
The Eagles (4-12) host Fairview on Thursday.
