OSCODA - May 8, 2008 - Tawas Area came back from a 3-1 deficit in the opening game of Thursday's doubleheader for a 10-3 victory and held on for a 6-3 win in the nightcap as the Braves swept Oscoda on the Owls' home field.
In the opener, the Owls built their lead behind Thomas York's first-inning RBI double and a two-run third inning that started with Mike Wimmer and York's leadoff singles.
Tawas took the lead for good in the fifth inning, scoring four runs and getting RBI singles from Scott Krasinski, Jesse Siwek and Chris Thoryk. The Braves added five more in the sixth, capped by Jared Coffin's two-run single.
Alex Verlax earned the win for Tawas, alloweing two earned runs on six hits and striking out five. Parker Thompson took the loss for the Owls, with six of the 10 runs charged to him being unearned. He gave up six hits and seven walks. Krasiinski, Siwek and Coffin each had two hits for the Braves.
In the second game, the Braves put three runs on the board in the third and fourth innings and made the lead stand up.
Jesse Siwek struck out eight in six innings, Krasinski had two hits and Justin Bielby had two RBIs to lead the Braves.
Tyler Little took the loss for the Owls, while Jason Jimenez and Mike Lamrock each had two hits.
