OSCODA - Apr. 17. 2008 - Oscoda came back from a seven-run first inning deficit in the opening game of Thursday's non-league doubleheader with AuGres-Sims to take a 10-9 victory, then held on for a 7-4 victory in the second game.
The Wolverines seemed on their way to an easy win after putting up seven runs before Oscoda even came to the plate and still led 9-3 in the third inning. The Owls put four ont he board in the third to get back in the game, then finished off the comeback with a three-run rally in the fifth.
Mike Lamrock had two hits, scored three runs and had three RBIs for Oscoda, Thomas York had two hits and three RBIs , Parker Thompson had two hits and two RBIs and Mike Wimmer scored four runs. Tyler Little went all the way for Oscoda, allowing four earned runs on six hits and five walks with one strikeout.
Caleb Whitney took the loss for the Wolverines. Ray Lake had two hits and two RBIs while Brandon Kelly had two hits.
In the second game, the Owls built a 6-1 lead and had to hang on as the Wolverines tried to duplicated Oscoda's first-game comeback but got no closer than the final margin.
Nick Withrow earned the win, pitching the first three innings and allowing one unearned run. Parker Thompson pitched three innings in relief and earned the save.
Lamrock had another big game with two hits and four RBIs while Wimmer had two hits and scored twice.
Art Griffore absorbed the loss for AGS, which got two hits apiece from Kelly and Zach Dieleman.
The Owls (6-2) travel to Posen on Tuesday and Ogemaw Heights on Thursday, Apr. 24.
