OSCODA - Apr. 8, 2008 - Oscoda's Tyler Little, Mike Lamrock and Jason Jimenez combined to throw a no-hitter at Hale in the second game of Tuesday's non-conference doubleheader.
It wasn't enough to get the win, though, as Hale pushed across a pair of runs on a bases-loaded walk and hit batsman in the fourth inning and rode the one-hit pitching of Tanner Shellenbarger to a 2-0 victory.
The Eagles were coming off a 17-2 loss to Oscoda in the first game in which their own pitchers had trouble finding the plate. Shellenbarger walked three and struck out 12 as he dominated the nightcap, working out of trouble in the fourth inning but mostly maintaining control.
Will Hjorth and Christian Moody scored the Eagles' runs while Brett Leech had a single for Oscoda's only hit.
In the first game, the Owls scored seven runs in the first inning without benefit of a hit and rolled to the mercy win. Thomas York finished the game with two hits with Lamrock, Jimenez, Mike Withrow and Dylan Kachur adding one each.
Wimmer picked up the win on the mound with Little finishing up in relief. Moody had two hits for the Eagles, with Kyle Wilson and Mike Reilly each adding one.
