WHITTEMORE-PRESCOTT - Aug. 27, 2008 - Tawas Area won its season-opening North East Michigan Conference volleyball match at Whittemore-Prescott on Wednesday, topping the Cardinals 25-16, 22-25, 25-14, 25-23.

W-P coach Helen Loomis said her team showed improvement on the defensive end of things over its performance two days earlier, but struggled in other areas.

"We actually looked better defensively with a lot of great digs," she said. "Unfortunately we had way too many hitting and serving errors. We'll continue to work on these weaknesses and strive for improvement."

The Cards (1-3, 0-1 NEMC) travel to Standish-Sterling on Sept. 3 for another league match, while Tawas (1-0 NEMC) travels to John Glenn.
