STANDISH-STERLING - Sep. 3, 2008 - Standish-Sterling held off Whittemore-Prescott's upset bid in the first and third games of Wednesday's NEMC volleyball match while dominating the middle game of a 25-23, 25-7, 25-22 sweep of the Cardinals.
Other than the middle game -- "At total team disaster which we've chosen to try and forget," said W-P coach Helen Loomis -- the Cards weren't overly disappointed with their play.
"I was quite pleased ... with games one and three," she said. "Serving and hitting errors were at a minimum and our blocking improved.
"Standish did a good job of finding the holes in our defense with some strategic tips."
W-P fell to 1-3 (0-2 NEMC) with the loss, while SSC is 2-0 in league play.
