STANDISH-STERLING - Oct. 1, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights' volleyball team avenged its only North East Michigan Conference defeat of the season Wednesday with a 26-24, 25-18, 25-19 sweep at Standish-Sterling.

The Panthers, who swept Ogemaw in both teams' NEMC opener over a month ago, led in each of the three games. SSC led 16-9 in the third and final game before the Falcons scored 13 straight points behind Lauren Gillette's serving.

"The girls kept their composure and played together all night," said Ogemaw coach Diane Gillette. "The hitters played smart at the net and hit the holes.

"The team is doing a fantastic job covering the floor and playing tough."

The victory kept Ogemaw and John Glenn tied atop the NEMC with 5-1 conference records.
