OSCODA - Sep. 20, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights rolled through Saturday's Oscoda Invitational with an unbeaten 6-0 mark on Saturday, winning the tournament title without losing a set and improving its record to 16-4-4 for the season.
The Falcons defeated AuGres-Sims 25-9, 25-9; Whittemore-Prescott 25-13, 25-14; Oscoda 25-16, 25-16; Lincoln Alcona 25-7, 25-15; Standish-Sterling 25-16, 25-13; and edged upstart Hale in the championship contest 25-16, 30-28.
"Our passing was fantastic," said Ogemaw coach Diane Gillette. "That allowed us to set up the hitters and attack the ball."
The Falcons were led by Angela Carollo's 44 kills; Lauren Gillette's 62 assists; Emily Sheltrown's 21 aces and Jorie Lucas with 78 digs.
"The team did a great job of staying focused all day and getting the job done," Gillette said. "I hope we continue to improve our skills so we will be ready at district time."
The Falcons return to NEMC action at John Glenn on Wednesday, Sept. 24.
