OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Sep. 15, 2008 - Oscoda has proved a thorn in the side of the Ogemaw Heights volleyball team the last couple years, despite not quite being able to earn a victory against the Falcons.

A year ago, the Owls took a 2-0 lead in one of their matches with Ogemaw only to drop the final three sets. On Monday, Oscoda again had Ogemaw on the brink before going down in five games, 25-20, 14-25, 25-23, 7-25, 8-15.

"We were inconsistent tonight," said Ogemaw coach Diane Gillette.

Oscoda coach Laura Franklin said the 25-7 fourth game made it tough for the Owls to come back for the decisive fifth game.

"It is very difficult to try to bring the intensity up for the fifth game after losing (like that)," she said. "But we definitely looked better tonight. We only missed one serve all night."

The Owls (1-4) host Alcona on Wednesday, while Ogemaw (9-4-4) hosts Whittemore-Prescott.
