NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY (MIDLAND) - Sep. 13, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights' volleyball team held its own against a strong field at the Northwood Invitational on Saturday, defeating Lansing East 25-19, 25-18, losing to Grosse Pointe North 17-25, 17-25 and splitting with Flint Kearsley 25-21, 19-25.
Ogemaw coach Diane Gillette said the Falcons weren't quite firing on all cylinders, but managed stay in even the games they lost.
"We struggled finding the target area to set up the ball," Gillette said. "We were slow to react to the ball.
"The tournament was very competitive but we hung tough."
The Falcons (8-4-4) host Oscoda on Monday in a non-league match, then Whittemore-Prescott in an NEMC tilt on Wednesday.
