HALE - Oct. 30, 2008 -
Hale's volleyball seniors enjoyed one last victory on their home floor Thursday as the Eagles defeated Hillman in four games, 25-13, 25-14, 23-25, 25-15.
The victory wrapped up second place in the North Star League for the Eagles, whose only two losses in conference play came to league champion Posen.
Hale broke out to big leads in the opening two sets and coasted to wins before Hillman held on for the third-game victory after the Eagles nearly came all the way back from down 23-18.
But in the fourth and final game, the Eagles were never threatened as they controlled the front line and helped themselves with consistent serving most of the night.
"The girls came out hard, but it took four games to get the job done," said Hale coach Heather Chrivia. "I was very impressed with all the girls and how they stuck together as a team."
Chrivia pointed out that Corinna Sidam had a strong game from the service line.
The Eagles (19-7-3, 12-2 NSL) take on Rogers City at Oscoda on Monday, Nov. 3, at 6 p.m. to open district tournament play.
