HILLMAN - Oct. 2, 2008 - Strong serving was the catalyst for Hale's volleyball team Thursday as the Eagles dropped Hillman out of a first place tie in the North Star League with a 25-15, 23-25, 25-14, 25-12 victory over the Tigers.
The victory kept Hale tied with Posen atop the NSL.
"The girls looked great and played well together," said Hale coach Heather Chrivia. "Our serving was the best it has been all season and everyone seemed to be on their game. It was truly a great match to watch. There were lots of good volleys and lots of saved balls by both teams."
Tarra Caverly had 12 kills and 14 digs; Liz Lerczak had 12 kills, Laura Sidebottom had 26 assists and 10 digs and Stacey Eno had 16 kills to pace Hale (11-5-1, 6-1).
The Eagles were a little banged up from the previous nights Powder-puff football game, but had solid contributions from some of their freshmen.
"Halley Wolkens served 100 percent out of 29 serve attempts," Chrivia said. "What a great night she had.
"The girls pulled together and overcame all to bring home the victory."
