FAIRVIEW - Sep. 18, 2008 - Arenac Eastern's volleyball team earned its first victory of the season Thursday with a 26-24, 25-22, 23-25, 25-22 nailbiter at Fairview.

AE was coming off a five-game loss to AuGres-Sims on Tuesday in which it had one the first two games before falling. After dropping the third game to Fairview, AE coach Hannah Neil admitted to some concern.

"I thought this was a replay of the AuGres games," she said, "when we lost the third game and lost the match.

"But the girls pulled together to take the match in the fourth game. (They did) an outstanding job."

The Eagles were led by Chelsea Dery with 15 aces, 36 assists and 19 points. AE (1-4, 1-3 North Star League) travels to Alcona for a non-league match on Monday.
