The end of the season sinks in for Standish-Sterling after their district semifinal loss to Gladwin.

OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Nov. 5, 2008 - Standish-Sterling's bid to defend its 2007 district volleyball title fell short as the Gladwin Flying G's defeated the Panthers 25-18, 25-19, 25-15 in Wednesday's Class B district semifinal, 25-18, 25-19, 25-15.

The Panthers, who host next week's regional tournament, weren't able to get untracked against a Gladwin team that they defeated back in August when the season was just getting underway.

With the win, Gladwin advances to Thursday's district championship game with host Ogemaw Heights.
