SAGINAW HERITAGE - Oct. 11, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights and Oscoda both traveled to the Saginaw Heritage Relays on Saturday, with the Owls taking fourth place and the Falcons sixth.
Heritage won the meet with 330 points, with Oscoda at 252, followed by Carmen-Ainsworth/Flushing (212), Ogemaw (188), Heritage's B team (184) and Saginaw Nouvel Catholic (156).
Oscoda
The Owls took second in the diver relay, diver relay, fourth in the 800 free relay, second in the diver-plus-one Medley Relay, first in the 400-free relay, third in the 300-IM relay, second in the 300-fly relay, fourth in the 300-breast relay, fourth in the 400-Medley Relay, and second in the 200-free relay.
Oscoda coach Jeff Rush said he was pleased with his team's performance.
"We had some really fast splits," he said. "Alyssa Peters narrowly missed qualifying for state in the 100-fly and we saw a lot of swimmers pick it up when they needed to.
"This was a great practice and will help us tune up for our conference meet in a couple of weeks."
Oscoda hosts Alpena and Standish-Sterling on Tuesday, Oct. 14.
Ogemaw
The Falcons' day was highlighted by a victory in the 200-free relay by Shaina Krieger, Mary Krieger, Erna Spannagel and Laurine Shields with a time of 1:55.79.
Two relays finished in second place. Morgan Dantzer, Erna Spannagel and Bailey Gilmore took second in the 800-free relay(9:50.29) and Shields, Lisa Alley, Trista Garland and Mary Krieger also did so in the 200-medley relay (2:24.64).
Other top finishers were Gilmore, Alley, Dantzer and Jaci Clark in the 400-medley relay (3rd, 5:27.91); Shaina Krieger, Clark and Stephanie Brindley in the 300-IM (4th, 4:09.15); Alley, Dantzer, Garland and Spannagel in the 300-fly (3:57.45); Gilmore, Alissa Bunnell, Brindley and Shields in the 300-back (4:01.90); and Brindley, Bunnell, Garland and Mary Krieger in the 400-free (6th, 5:12.28).
The Falcons next swim at home on Oct. 14 against Gaylord.
