OGEMAW HEIGHTS -
Sep. 24, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights moved into a second-place tie in the North East Michigan Conference on Wednesday by defeating Pinconning 5-0 on the Falcons' home field.
The Spartans had to play without Buddy Grusnick, who fractured a wrist in Monday's contest and was one of Pinny's primary offensive threats.
As a result, Ogemaw goalkeeper Sean McClintic recorded the shutout without having to make a save.
The Falcons got a pair of goals from Jordan Moore and one each from Derek Hughey, Robbie Kish and Allan Baker.
With John Glenn's loss to Tawas on Wednesday, the Falcons and Bobcats are tied at 5-2 in NEMC play, two games behind Tawas with three to play. Ogemaw (8-6-1 overall) still has to play both frontrunners, including Tawas at home on Oct. 1. The Falcons first host Cheboygan on Monday, Sept. 29.
Pinny fell to 1-11 (1-5 NEMC).
