OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Aug. 18, 2008 - Ogemaw Heights opened up the 2008 season on Monday with a 2-1 loss at home to Alpena.
The Falcons, who suffered heavy graduation losses from last year's first-ever district championship team, got a game-tying goal from Jordan Moore in the 32nd minute of the first half to get his team on the board.
Alpena, which outshot the Falcons 24-9 for the game, got the game-winner from Isaac Mead with five minutes left in the second half.
"They had a lot more speed than we do," said Falcon coach Jeff Young. "I think once we get the kids all on the same page, we won't be half bad. We're filling some holes with sophomores, I think in the next couple of years we should be pretty good if we come together the way I think we will."
Sean McClintic had 13 saves, while Elliott Meiser had one non-keeper save for the Falcons (0-1).
