OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Oct. 8, 2008 - John Glenn and Ogemaw Heights wrapped up the NEMC season in style Wednesday, with Glenn taking a 3-2 double-overtime thriller over the Falcons on Ty Richards' corner kick header in the second extra period.

The Falcons had tied the score in the 37th minute of the second half on a Jordan Moore goal, courtesy of Rob Kish's assist.

"It was a classic effort on both sides," said Glenn coach Steve Gribbell. "One of the best games you could have ever seen. This game fits into the classic category. Great efforts and plenty of opportunities for both teams."

Ogemaw Heights coach Jeff Young wasn't quite as enthusiastic, at least about the end result, but said he hoped the team's play carried over into next week's district tournament.

"It really was a good game," he said. "We played well, at least better than we have been. it just didn't end quite the way we wanted."

Stefan Michalsky's corner kick was headed by Richards into the Ogemaw goal three minutes into the second overtime. It was Richards' second goal of the game, the first coming on a penalty kick early in the second half that tied the score at 1-1. Michalsky added a goal off a Richards assist for a 2-1 Bobcat lead midway through the second half.

Ogemaw led 1-0 at halftime on the strength of Kish's goal in the 20th minute.

Sean McClintic had 13 saves for the Falcons, who finished the regular season at 10-9-1 (6-4 NEMC). Ogemaw hosts Mt. Pleasant at 5 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 13 to open district tournament play.

Eric Reder had 10 saves for Glenn (13-7, 8-2). The Bobcats host Cadillac at 4 p.m. in their district opener.

The Cadillac-Glenn winner plays at the Ogemaw-Mt. Pleasant winner Wednesday in a district semifinal matchup.
