2007 Season: 17-4-1 (9-2-1, 2nd place NEMC)
Head Coach: Jeff Young
Returning players: Derek Hughey, sr.; Ben Wiltse, sr.; Sean McClintic, sr.; Rob Kish, jr.; Clayton Clemens, jr.
Outlook: The Falcons have just five players returning from the 2007 squad that took second place in the NEMC and won the program's first-ever district title.
"We've got a lot of growing to do," says Ogemaw Heights coach Jeff Young. "We're so young. The kids have the skills and the ability, but we need to come together as a team. If we can get everyone on the same page we should be fine."
Three of the Falcons' top four scorers graduated. The one returning is senior Derek Hughey, who tallied 11 goals in 2007, including eight in league play. Senior midfielder Ben Wiltse is also back, while senior Sean McClintic, who played mostly in the field a year ago, takes over the net vacated by the graduated Kyle Dantzer.
"He didn't get as much of a chance to play (in goal) last year as much as we'd have liked," Young says. "He's not as big as Kyle, but he plays with the same edge of reckless abandon he did."
Juniors Robbie Kish and Clayton Clemens, both of whom saw significant playing time last year, also return.
The Falcons hope to benefit from the experienced gained a year ago by the bulk of its roster, which made up Ogemaw Heights' first JV team.
"I'd like to think we'll see that pay off," Young says. "There's a maturing process that needs to take place, but the potential is there."
