IMLAY CITY - Jan. 20, 2007 - The Ogemaw Heights wrestling team earned a second-place finish at the Imlay City Invitational on Saturday, taking the runner-up spot out of 12 teams.
The Falcons were beaten by Durand but finished ahead of Almont, Bentley, Brown City, Capac, Cass City, Imlay City, Lapeer West, Oxford, Saginaw Nouvel and Sandusky.
Ogemaw boasted eight medalists, including three individual champions.
Andrew Funsch (125 pounds), Rob Goulette (140) and Matt Franklin (160) each won their weight classes. Funsch and Franklin were both repeat champions after having taken first place at the same tourney last year.
Runners-up in their respective weight classes were Michael Lentz (130), Zach Jameson (145), scott Kimball (189) and Carl Worthy (215), while Bruce Vermillion (135) took fourth.
The Falcons, who are 13-3 in dual matches, host Oscoda and Onaway on Thursday, with the Oscoda match counting toward the NEMC title run. Ogemaw then travels with most of the other northern teams to Gaylord's Northern Michigan Championships on Saturday, Jan. 13.
