2005-6 Season:10-19 (3rd place NEMC); won team district title; two state finalists
Head Coach: Tony Lopez
Returning athletes: Kyle Myers (119); Jake Trier (125); Danny Roberts (135); Tim Ruby (145); Kevin Beland (145); Gerald Martinez (152); Justin Andrick (160); Bennett McWain (171); Monte Fouchey (275)
Outlook: Nine Owls return from last season, but with only four newcomers Oscoda won't be able to fill out a full lineup unless some late recruits join up. There is also just one returning senior -- Gerald Martinez -- on the squad, so if the Owls can hold their numbers, they could be building for a breakout season next year.
The Owls' two state qualifiers graduated, but its class of eight juniors has shown some potential. Kyle Myers (119) and Tim Ruby (145) each took third place at last year's league meet, and Martinez and Danny Roberts had big wins ta the team district tournament. Martinez, Ruby and Justin Andrick are each two-time letter-winners.
The Owls have two straight district titles, but taking a third will be much tougher -- Oscoda was moved into the Houghton Lake district this year, which features defending state runner-up Roscommon. |
