LINCOLN-ALCONA - Jan. 24, 2007 - Whittemore-Prescott's volleyball team brushed off a week-long layoff Wednesday with a three-game non-conference sweep of Lincoln-Alcona, 25-11, 25-11, 25-17.
W-P coach Helen Loomis was able to give everyone plenty of playing time as the Cards dominated most of the match.
"Serve reception fell apart at the start of the third game, but we managed to get back in it with some strong serving," Loomis said.
Katie Borushko had 15 service points, six aces and 15 digs; Ashleigh Schulte had eight points and five aces; Catherine Daniels had seven points, five aces and nine kills; Heather Ostrander had six points, five aces and a block; Ashley Foco had 26 assists; Katie Eymer had a block; Erica Loomis had 12 digs and 10 kills; and Madie O'Farrell had four kills and seven digs.
The Cardinals (15-4-2) host Standish-Sterling, Grayling and Houghton Lake in a non-conference quad on Monday, then face off at home with Pinconning on Wednesday, Jan. 31 with the top spot in the NEMC on the line.
