PINCONNING - Jan. 24, 2007 - Pinconning earned a 25-13, 25-8, 25-14 sweep of Oscoda in NEMC volleyball play on Wednesday, though Oscoda coach Linda Hennigar was hardly displeased with how her Owls performed against the perennial league champs.
"The game scores really do not tell the story or reflect (our) play," she said. "Typically we would play well for a short burst of time, then play not so aggressively for longer periods of time.
"Early in all three games we played some exciting volleyball, then the score would be tied or we would take a two or three-point lead, and then we would have a playing breakdown."
Hennigar added that Margaret Negro, Mariko Yamamoto and Heather Patterson had strong games for Oscoda.
Leaders for the Owls were Negro with six kills and three blocks; Yamamoto with 13 digs and two aces; Arielle Beliveau with 10 service points; Emily Schwedler with six assists; and Patterson with seven digs. For the match the Owls served at a 94 percent clip.
