NEW LOTHROP - Dec. 28, 2006 - Ogemaw Heights took a step up in competition over the holidays, playing at the New Lothrop Invitational on Thursday, Dec. 28. The Falcons didn't win any matches, losing twice and splitting twice, but coach Diane Gillette said her team showed heart despite the results.
"It was a challenging tournament with a lot of talented teams," she said. "The girls never gave up despite being down one game 8-22, coming back to close the gap in a 19-25 loss."
The Falcons (13-5-3 overall) were led by Jamie Lucas with 34 digs and 7 blocks; Alicia Brown with 26 digs; Holly Wangler with 25 digs; Amber Schmitt with 5 blocks; Kelly Rosebrugh with 9 aces and 13 kills; Jordan Foster with 4 aces and 12 kills; and Renee Wangler with 10 kills.
Ogemaw opens NEMC play on Wednesday at Standish-Sterling.
