ROSCOMMON - Dec. 18, 2006 - Ogemaw Heights won two of three matches at Roscommon on Monday, sweeping past Grayling and Houghton Lake but losing a close match against the host Bucks in which the Falcons' serving proved costly.
Ogemaw topped Grayling 25-13, 25-17 and Houghton lake 25-10, 25-14. But against the Bucks, 79 percent from the service line contributed to a 25-23, 17-25, 20-25 loss.
"We played three good games against a tough Roscommon team," said Falcon coach Diane Gillette. "But once again we struggled at the service line."
The front line had a solid night, with Renee Wangler turning in 16 kills, Amber Schmitt 10, Kelly Rosebrugh 8 and Jamie Lucas 8 kills and 4 blocks.
"The team is working great together and getting more comfortable with each other on the floor," Gillette said. "We seem to have a balanced attack on the front line with five strong hitters."
Lucas added 14 digs and 7 aces; Holly Wangler had 28 assists; Rosebrugh added 22 digs; Alicia Brown had 13 digs and 10 aces; Renee Wangler added 8 aces; and Jordan Foster had 14 digs.
The Falcons improved to 12-4-1 and next play at the New Lothrop Invitational on Dec. 28.
