AuGRES-SIMS - Feb. 12, 2007 - AuGres-Sims seems to have snapped out of its mid-season funk in time to put in its claim for a second straight North Star League title.
After seeming on the edge of falling out of the league race two weeks ago, the Wolverines took over sole possession of first place in the NSL on Monday by sweeping Posen 25-13, 25-19, 26-24. The Vikings led the Wolverines by a half game heading into Monday's match.
The Wolverines were led by Jamie Taylor with 25 assist and nine digs; Alicia Wright with 11 kills and four digs; Toria Pendred with 13 digs and three aces; and Sam Baron with eight kills and four digs.
AGS (12-6, 8-2 NSL) have plenty of work yet to do if they want to reclaim the title they won for the first time last season. Thursday they play at Mio, which defeated the Wolverines in January, and Monday, Feb. 15 they host Hillman, which can claim a share of the league lead with a victory. The Wolverines also have games remaining against Atlanta and Arenac Eastern.
Hillman (9-3) can claim a share of the NSL title if it beats the Wolverines as well as Hale on Feb. 15, while Posen (8-3) has contests remaining with Fairview, Hale and a make-up with Atlanta.
