2005-6 Season: 30-15-4 (8-4 North East Michigan Conference)
Head Coach: Diane Gillette
Returning Players: Alicia Brown, sr. (D): Holly Wangler, sr. (S); Amber Schmitt, sr. (M); Kelly Rosebrugh, sr. (OH); Renee Wangler, sr. (RH); Jamie Lucas, sr. (M).
New to varsity: Selina Tabayoyong, jr.; Tiffani Rouse, jr.; Faith Wangler, jr.; Meaghan Tackebury, jr.; Amanda Jameson, jr.; Jordan Foster, jr.
Outlook: The Falcons' six returners all saw plenty of time for last season's 30-win squad. The front line should be solid with Renee Wangler, Jamie Lucas, Kelly Rosebrugh and Jamie Lucas returning. Lucas and Rosebrugh are strong all-around players, and with setter Holly Wangler and defensive specialist / libero Alicia Brown returning as well, it will give the Falcons time to get their crew of five juniors worked in without leaving any major holes in the lineup.
"I look for my front row to be strong in hitting and blocking," says Falcon coach Diane Gillette. "Alicia should keep the back running smoothly."
The Falcons hope that will be enough to give NEMC co-champs Pinconning and John Glenn a run for their money.
"We need to focus on getting the ball up to the setter," Gillette says. "We (need to) attack as much as possible. Our serving is looking good; our passing still needs work." |
