Caro 101, at Ogemaw Heights 85

OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Feb. 8, 2007 - Ogemaw Heights turned in several of its top performances of the season Thursday, including Alex Ecker's state-qualifying back stroke time, during the Falcons' 101-85 loss to Caro in an Independent Swim Conference meet.

Ecker's state-qualifying time of 59.68 (well below the cut-off time of 1:00.49) was good for a victory in the 100-back, one of six event wins for the Falcons, including three that Ecker was a part of. He also won the 200-individual medley (2:16.63) and the 400-free relay (3:55.71) with Conrad Laurion, Chad Maciejewski and Tanner Walker.

"He's been working for that," said Ogemaw coach Louise Hofer. "To watch him get it on Senior Recognition Night was a great accomplishment for him.

"The guys swam their hearts out tonight, and we came up with some fantastic performances."

Other first-place finishes went to Laurion in the 50-free (23.61) and 100-fly (1:01.15); James Rohrer in diving (166.25 points).

Taking second place were the 200-medley relay team of Ecker, Nick Elliott, Laurion and Maciejewski (1:51.83); Maciejewski in the 100-free (58.14); the 200-free relay team of Josh Gildner, Elliott, Rohrer and Walker (1:47.33) in the 200-free relay; Walker in the 200-free (2:14.96); and Elliott (1:14.43) in the 100-breast.

Third-place finishers were Brian Marshal in the 500-free (6:28.03); Dan Spencer in the 200-free (2:22.75); Walker in the 100-free (58.19); and Sean McClintic in the 100-breast (1:16.72).
