OGEMAW HEIGHTS - Jan. 18, 2007 - Ogemaw Heights outnumbered the Oscoda swim team by about a three-to-one margin, and that, along with 10 first-place finishes helped the Falcons earn a 127-55 victory over the Owls on Thursday.
"I thought we looked pretty good tonight," said Falcons coach Louise Hofer. "This was our first meeting with Oscoda this season, and there is always a little tension when you see a team for the first time in a season."
The Falcons won all but two events. Winners included the 200-medley relay team of Brian Marshall, Nick Elliott, Tanner Walker and Chad Maciejewski (2:05.61), Alex Ecker in the 200-free (2:00.66), Conrad Laurion in the 200-IM (2:24.48) and 100-butterfly (1:02.16), Dan Spencer in the 100-free (1:03.33), Marshall in the 500-free (6:21.84), Laurion, Maciejewski, Walker and Ecker in the 200-free relay (1:40.93), Josh Gildner in the 100-back (1:10.49), Sean McClintic in the 100-breat (1:18.20) and Ecker, Rohrer, Marshall and Laurion in the 400-free relay (4:04.45).
Mike Mertz won the 50-free (26.01) and Ray Gaskell took diving (182.15 points) for the Owls.
"I decided to put some of the guys in events they don't normally swim, and several of them discovered events they really enjoy," Hofer said. I think the most enjoyable to watch was (freshman) Logan Gabourie in the 500-free style. He had a great first swim and is looking forward to the next."
Gabourie finished 4th in 7:15.85.
