OAKLAND UNIVERSITY – Mar. 9, 2007 – Ogemaw Heights' Alex Ecker earned a 29th-place finish in the 100-yard back stroke at the Divisoin 2 state swim finals at Oakland University on Mar. 9.
Ecker's time of 58.68 beat his seed time of 59.26 by three quarters of a second and allowed him to finish in the middle of the pack of 62 swimmers in the event.
Zeeland's Jordan Diekema won the state title with a time of 50.63.
Also in Division 2, Oscoda's Ray Gaskell finished 31st in diving after a ninth-place regional finish.
"Ray is our first diver to be represented at state in many years," said Oscoda coach Jeff Rush. "A solid performance at state coupled with his only being a sophomore all but assures Oscoda being represented for years to come."
