LINCOLN-ALCONA - Feb. 2, 2007 - In a game featuring stifling defense, Oscoda's Jason Jimenez played like he was apparently immune to what shut down most of the other players on the court.
Jimenez drilled 6-of-9 3-pointers and scored 19 points as the Owls handed Lincoln-Alcona a 41-34 defeat. Jimenez scored all nine of the Owls' second-quarter points as Oscoda took a 15-8 halftime lead.
"He really sparked us tonight," said Oscoda coach Scott Lueck. "He had all our second quarter points and made some timely 3's in the third quarter."
The Owls built a 27-11 lead in the third period before Alcona came back, thanks in part to a miserable (5-of-19) night at the free throw line.
"Once again I am pleased with our defense," Lueck said. The Owls held Alcona to 26 percent shooting forced 23 turnovers. "I am always happy to beat Alcona because I think Wayne (Van Dyke) does such a great job teaching defense."
The Owls shot 38 percent from the floor, despite Jimenez's hot night, and turned the ball over 19 times.
Adam Dettmer added 12 points for the Owls, including eight in the third quarter. The Owls (7-6) have won three straight and host AuGres-Sims on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
