FAIRVIEW - Jan. 2, 2007 - Fairview's Pierson Szubelak and A.J. Green combined to score 38 points Tuesday as the Eagles opened the new year with a 53-39 non-conference defeat of Oscoda.

The Owls were held to 29 percent shooting for the night as Fairview pulled away to a 32-19 halftime lead.

Green scored all but two of his 16 points in the second quarter, while Szubelak scored at least four in each period.

Adam Dettmer was the only double-figure scorer for the Owls (3-2), scoring 16 points, while Barak Henderson added five.

Fairview improved to 5-1 with the win and hosts rival Mio on Friday. Oscoda hosts Standish-Sterling on Jan. 9.
