| Hale graduate Bryant Wilson receives his trophy for winning the NCAA Division II indoor pole vault title. |
BOSTON, MASS. - Mar. 10, 2007 - Less than two years ago, Bryant Wilson won his final state pole vault title for Hale High School.
The Grand Valley State University sophomore has continued to one-up himself, and Saturday at the NCAA Division II national indoor track and field finals earned a national championship trophy. Wilson's leap of 5.33 meters (nearly 17-6) was almost a foot better than second-place Derik Brugger of Minnesota State - Moorhead and broke his own school record of 17-0 3/4, set just last week.
Wilson became the first Michigan athlete to win the D-II indoor pole vault title.
The Lakers finished eighth overall, with two other GVSU athletes, both juniors, earning All-American honors with their performances at the meet.
