Hale's Wilson breaks GVSU record
Bryant Wilson cleared 17 feet for the first time and set two records in the process at an indoor meet in Wisconsin on Mar. 2.

KENOSHA, WIS. - Mar. 2, 2007 - Hale High graduate Bryant Wilson, now competing as a sophomore for the Grand Valley State University track and field team, topped 17 feet in the pole vault for the first time in a meet at Carthage College on Friday, Mar. 2.

Wilson's jump of 5.20 meters (17-0¾ not only won the meet, but also broke two records in the process. His jump broke the GVSU indoor track mark of 16'6" held by Ben Hirdes and broke the Carthage field house record of 16-6.

This height currently places him tied with Kyle Dennis of Abilene Christian College with the highest vault in the nation this indoor season in Division II track. Wilson will be competing March 10 at the NCAA D-II Indoor National Track and Field Championships held in Boston, Mass.
