Beaverton Invitational (girls)

BEAVERTON - May 12, 2007 - NEMC squads Ogemaw Heights, Standish-Sterling and Tawas Area ran at Saturday's Beaverton Invitational, with the Falcons topping out with a third-place finish.

Chippewa Hills won the meet with 139 points, followed by Gladwin (94), Ogemaw (66), Ithaca (56), Standish-Sterling (50), Buena Vista (28), Harrison (26), Sanford-Meridian (23), Beaverton (23), Bullock Creek (16) and Tawas (6).

Holly Mester won the 3200 (12:05.0) to lead the Falcons. Other top finishers were Kayla Brindley in the discus (2nd, 109-2); Kami Shields in the discus (6th, 100-3); Amber Schmitt in the high jump (6th, 4-6); Kelsi Rutherford in the shot put (5th, 32-1); Noelle Mester, Holly Mester, Chelsea LeForce and Heather Villarreal in the 4x800 (2nd, 10:31.04); Maggie Edward in the 100 hurdles (3rd, 17.32) and 300 hurdles (6th, 54.98); Edward, Kristeen Soper, Selina Tabayoyong and Kalena Franklin in the 4x200 (4th, 1:58.85); LeForce in the 1600 (4th, 5:52.0) and 3200 (3rd, 13:12.0); Noelle Mester in the 800 (2nd, 2:35.0); and Franklin in the 200 (2nd, 26.61).

Ashlyn Gulvas swept the discus (114-4) and shot put (38-5) to lead the Panthers, and Noelle Lentz win the 800 in 2:33.0. Other SSC leaders were Kayleigh Nelson in the discus (4th, 104-8) and shot put (3rd, 34-2); Lentz in the 1600 (2nd, 5:45.0); and Ashley Pickvet in the 1600 (5th, 5:59.0).

Quinn Knox earned a third-place finish for Tawas in the discus with a toss of 105-1.
