OGEMAW HEIGHTS - May 2, 2007 - Ogemaw Heights won only six events at Wednesday's three-way NEMC girls track meet, but took advantage of superior depth to defeat Standish-Sterling and Oscoda. The Falcons finished with 80 team points to 57 for SSC and 35 for the Owls.
Winning events for the Falcons were Kalena Franklin in the 100 (13.50) and 20 (29.29); Noelle Mester in the 1600 (5:51.60); Maggie Edward in the 100 hurdles (18.62); Morgan Stansberry, Holly Mester, Noelle Mester and Chelsea LeForce in the 4x800 relay (11:20.80); and Brittney Stein in the pole vault (8-7).
For the Panthers, winners were Ashlyn Gulvas in the 400 (1:06.10) and shot put (36-0); Noelle Lentz in the 800 (2:36.70), 1600 (5:51.60) and 3200 (13:33.60); Kellsie Hinkley, Gulvas, Alyssa White and Heather Hergott in the 4x400 (4:47.0); and Kayleigh Nelson in the discus (112-9).
First-place finishers for Oscoda were Ashley Schonfeld in the 300 hurdles (51.12); Rebecca Businski, Ashley Schonfeld, Angela LaLonde and Megan Zarachowicz in the 4x100 (57.02); Businski, Schonfeld, LaLonde and Blake Sponaugle in the 4x200 (2:02.77); Zarachowicz in the high jump (4-10) and LaLonde in the long jump (12-5).
Ogemaw improved to 5-0 in NEMC head-to-head matchups, while SSC is 4-1 and Oscoda is 0-4.
