AuGRES-SIMS - May 8, 2007 - Tawas Area ran to a big victory at the AuGres-Sims Invitational on Tuesday, defeating second-place Mio AuSable by nearly 40 points in the nine-team event.

Tawas ran up 140.5 points to Mio's 102.5, followed by AuGres-Sims (93), Hale (58), Oscoda (45), Fairview (44), Alcona (25), Posen (16) and Atlanta (2).

The Braves got event wins from Ryan McArdle in the discus (120-8); Tom Domerese in the pole vault (12-0); Jeff Janis, Tyler Klenow, Alex Revord and William Schmidt in the 4x200 (1:36.73); Tyler Bischoff in the 1600 (4:42.70) and 3200 (10:34.87); and Janis, Klenow, Schmidt and Revord in the 4x100 (meet-record 46.70).

Mio's Patrick Wright earned Most Valuable Athlete honors with wins in the 100 (11.41), 200 (23.13), 300 hurdles (42.14) and a second-place finish in the long jump (20-2). Corey Wright had the Bolts' other event wins in the high jump (6-0) and 400 (46.70) and took second to Patrick in the 100 by .01 (11.42).

Winning events for AuGres-Sims were David Garske in the long jump (21.2.5); A.J. Baker, Alex Lutz, Nathan Trapp and Clark Larson in the 4x800 (8:58.20); and Larson in the 800 (2:07.18).

Hale's winner was Luke Kaiser in the 110 hurdles (16.54) by .01 over teammate Zach Putnam (16.55).

Other winners were Posen's Steve Lijewski in the shot put (41-11) and Alcona's 4x400 relay (3:52.95).

Other top finishers for the Braves were Ky Barnes in the discus (2nd, 118-4) and shot put (4th, 39-1.5); Brad Emington in the discus (4th, 113-9) and shot put (6th, 36-11); Wayne Enzenberger in the high jump (2nd, 6-0), pole vault (2nd, 11-0) and 800 (2nd, 2:12.03); Klenow in the high jump (5th, 5-3); Jeff Janis in the long jump (6th, 17-8.5); Seth Philpot, Jacob Winn, Guy Cotter and Bischoff in the 4x800 (9:12.49); Revord in the 100 (5th, 11.96) and 200 (3rd, 23.80); Philpot in the 1600 (6th, 5:20.12) and 3200 (5th, 11:28.26); Jordan Smith in the 800 (4th, 2:15.84); and Kenny Delage, Domerese, Winn and Stephen Morris in the 4x400 (3rd, 3:56.15).

For Mio, top finishers were Aaron Kososky in the high jump (5th, 5-3); Aaron Allwardt (3rd, 11-0) and Michael Kososky (4th, 10-6) in the pole vault; Jacob Ray, Aaron Smith, Nick Nankerviis and Zach Pillars in the 4x800 relay (3rd, 9:39.88); Sawyer Dawe in the 110 hurdles (4th, 18.01) and 300 hurdles (5th, 45.93); Tucker Booth, Michael Kososky, Ray and Corie Allie in the 4x100 (3rd, 48.89); and Pillars in the 800 (5th, 2:19.02).

For AuGres-Sims, other leaders were Nate Jennings in the discus (6th, 96-6); Isaiah Kauffman in the long jump (4th, 18-1) and 800 (3rd, 2:13.32); Jerry Ritchey in the 110 hurdles (3rd, 16.86) and 300 hurdles (3rd, 44.08); Nathan Trapp in the 110 hurdles (5th, 18.03) and 300 hurdles (6th, 46.01); A.J. Baker in the 1600 (2nd, 4:52.36) and 3200 (3rd, 10:56.53); Garske in the 400 (3rd, 48.89) and 200 (2nd, 43.35) and Kyle Shanks, Kauffman, Trapp and Larson in the 4x400 (2nd, 3:53.46).

Oscoda's leaders were Justin Andrick in the discus (5th, 97-11), 400 (6th, 50.33) and 200 (6th, 25.38); Trent Fouchey in the 100 (3rd, 11.65) and 400 (2nd, 47.89); Jake Trier in the 100 (4th, 11.86); Sean Krausch, Trier, Nathan Samotis and Chance Beetham in the 4x200 (2nd, 1:39.66); and 4x100 (2nd, 47.89); Krausch in the 200 (4th, 45.07); and Beetham in the 200 (5th, 25.13).

Fairview's other leaders were Kyle Sanderson in the long jump (3rd, 19-2) and 400 (49.88); Joe Koslakiewicz in the shot put (5th, 36-11.25); the 4x800 relay (4th, 9:49.92); Kyle Handrich, Tyler Kalahar, Will Smith and Sanderson in the 4x200 (3rd, 1:40.96); Ryan Kauffman (3rd, 5:03.32) and Titus Brown (4th, 5:03.97) in the 1600; Kauffman in the 800 (6th, 2:20.98); and Brown (2nd, 10:49.34) and Kauffman (6th, 11:28.98) in the 3200.
