OGEMAW HEIGHTS - May 4, 2007 - Ogemaw Heights' softball team hadn't had a game in two weeks; when they played on Friday, they had to do so without mono-stricken senior pitcher Jamie Lucas.

The Falcons found a way to win both games of their non-conference doubleheader with Gaylord, taking both in come-from-behind fashion from the Blue Devils by identical 3-2 scores.

"We played great defense," said Ogemaw coach Chuck Wren. "And we showed a lot of character coming from behind in both games."

In the opener, the Falcons had to score a run in the bottom of the sixth to tie it, then won it in the seventh. Kayla Lehman's RBI double brought home the tying run in the sixth after Jenna Zettel reached base on an error.

In the seventh, an error allowed Tiffani Rouse to reached base. Rouse stole second, reached third on Kelly Rosebrugh's sacrifice and scored the winning run on Colleen Wren's sacrifice fly.

Wren also picked up the pitching win, allowing two runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six.

Rosebrugh, Lauren Gillette and Lehman each had two hits, with Gillette slamming a first-inning triple.

The Falcons didn't wait until the seventh inning of the second game to stage their game-winning comeback. Again trailing 2-1, Gillette led off the sixth with a single, took second on Zettel's sacrifice and third on a passed ball, then scored on Michelle Berdan's base hit. Lehman singled to keep the rally alive, and Berdan scored the go-ahead run on a passed ball.

Gillette picked up the win by retiring the final seven Gaylord batters in order, allowing two hits and striking out one in 2-1/3 innings in relief of Jordan Foster.

Lehman had three hits, Gillette had two and Rosebrugh led off the game with a triple and scored the game's first run on Zettel's RBI single.

The Falcons improved to 7-5 and return to NEMC action Monday against Tawas.
