SAGINAW ARTHUR HILL - Apr. 2, 2007 - Ogemaw Heights' Jamie Lucas and Colleen Wren each hurled no-hitters Monday as the Falcon softball team swept to a pair of big wins over Arthur Hill, 18-1 and 19-0.
Lucas shook off any effects of having her leg hit by a line drive in last week's opener and settled down after walking three batters and a passed ball in the first inning that led to the Lumberjacks' only run. She finished with seven walks and eight strikeouts in five innings of work.
The Falcons scored in every inning, highlighted by a seven-run fourth.
Ogemaw collected 14 hits and 10 walks. Lucas finished with two hits and three RBIs; Theresa Wymer had two hits, including a double, and three RBIs; Jenna Zettel had three hits, including a double, and two RBIs; and Wren Kelly Rosebrugh, Lauren Gillette, Kim Wickwire, Kayla Lehman, Tiffani Rouse and Lisa Bennett each had singles.
Wren followed with her own no-hitter and needed just three innings to do it as the Falcons scored five runs in the first inning, eight runs in the second and six in the third. Wren finished with two walks and six strikeouts and added four hits and three RBIs of her own.
Rosebrugh added two hits, including a double, and two RBIs; Lucas had a hit, a sacrifice fly and three RBIs; Michelle Berdan added a triple and two RBIs; Lehman had a hit and two RBIs; Zettel had a triple and two RBIs; and Wickwire added a single and two RBIs. The Falcons finished with 11 hits, drew 11 walks and had two batters hit by pitches.
The Falcons improved to 2-2 with the wins.
