Tawas Area 2, at Oscoda 0

OSCODA - May 2, 2007 - Oscoda once again gave the Tawas Area girls soccer team its best shot, but for the second time this season the Braves scraped by with a victory over the Owls, this time by a score of 2-0.

Hannah Miles converted a penalty kick 23 minutes into the second half that broke a scoreless tie, and Kristine Jackson scored with 1:30 to play to clinch it.

The Braves otherwise dominated the game, outshooting the Owls 20-2. Tawas goalkeeper Ashley Krumm had to make just one save, while Oscoda's Ashley Crawford kept her team in the game with 18 saves.

"Ashley kept us in the match tonight," said Oscoda coach Gary Schneider. "She was amazing tonight. She stopped several point blank shots, punched two over the bar and dove to tap a couple away with her fingertips."

Tawas kept pace with John Glenn atop the NEMC with a 5-1 mark (6-2 overall) while Oscoda dropped to 0-6 (0-5). The Braves and Bobcats tangle at Tawas on Friday with sole possession of first place on the line.
