GLADWIN - May 23, 2007 - The Oscoda Lady Owls traveled to Gladwin Wednesday
night and for the second time this season blanked the
Flying G's, 1-0. Oscoda got their goal in the
22nd minute when Aubrey Thurston hit Rushelle
Sidebottom and she banged it into the net. Oscoda
commanded the majority of the first half and the G's
only managed one shot on Oscoda's net.
Gladwin came out with some fire in the second half and
the two teams traded advances but neither were able to
finish. Oscoda goalkeeper Ashley Crawford earned
the shutout by making a total of 10 saves. Oscoda
took a total of 11 shots.
Oscoda coach Gary Schneider was happy with the way
his squad has been playing the last two weeks.
"We
are playing with passion and exhibiting a lot of good,
steady teamwork," he said. "The passing is finally starting to
click."
The Owls travel Thursday to Houghton Lake to finish
out their regular season. They open district play
next Tuesday in Tawas against the Braves. The winner
will play Houghton Lake in Tawas on May 30th. The
Owls have raised their overall record to 3-11 after
finishing the NEMC season at , 1-9.
