OSCODA - May 23, 2007 - An emotional Oscoda girls soccer team earned its first shutout of the season Monday by blanking Standish-Sterling 4-0.

Junior captain Tricia McDonald netted a hat trick, scoring three goals, and Chelsie Sisk added her first goal of the season. Aubrey Thurston had two assists while Margaret Negro and Rushelle Sidebottom each had one assist.

The Owls, playing with heavy hearts after the weekend death of recent Oscoda grad Mark Negro, outshot the Panthers 13-2 and kept the SSC offense under control. Jill Carl had nine intercepts, four steals and one non-keeper save. Ashley Crawford had one save as Oscoda improved to 2-11 (1-9). SSC dropped to 2-13 (1-9).
