OSCODA - May 11, 2007 - Oscoda got a goal from Tricia McDonald off an assist from Jeri Carl midway through the first half and held on to defeat Gladwin 1-0 on Friday for the Owls' first victory of the season.

The Owls had to overcome some adversity to hang on. Oscoda played one player short after incurring a red card with 14 minutes to go. And with two minutes left, goalkeeper Ashley Crawford was injured, leaving junior Margaret Negro, in her first varsity goalkeeping experience, to make a diving save on what would have been the game-tying goal.

The Owls' defense was led by sweeper Erika Nolff, with 15 steals and eight intercepts. Krystin Inman, Katia Kotula and Jodie Astrom played well on the back line, while Crawford had eight saves before she was injured.

The Owls improved to 1-9 overall, while Gladwin fell to 5-4.
