OGEMAW HEIGHTS - May 17, 2007 - Ogemaw Heights and Oscoda faced off for the second consecutive night on Thursday, but a change in venue made little difference as the Falcons blanked the Owls 3-0, the identical score to the previous night's contest.
"It's tough to play the same team twice in a row," said Ogemaw coach Jeff Young. "It's even tougher to play the same team two days in a row. I think it played into the heads of both teams. Neither team played as well as they did the night before."
Hannah Morrell and Lindsay VanOosten scored 10 minutes apart late in the first half and Alicia Brown added a score early in the second half. Jessica Killinger stopped all three Oscoda shots on goal and Kristi Killackey had an assist.
Ashley Crawford had 16 saves for the Owls.
Oscoda fell to 1-11 (0-9 NEMC) while Ogemaw finishes its league schedule tied with Tawas at 7-3 in league play and improved to 7-5-3 overall.
"Earlier in the year it didn't seem possible we'd finish in second," Young said. "But the kids came together and started playing some ball. They know how; hopefully we can start playing that way all the time."
