TAWAS AREA - May 29, 2007 - Oscoda's girls soccer team had given Tawas Area all it could handle in their two regular-season matches this spring.
But on Thursday, the Braves took control of their district tournament opener and rolled past the Owls 6-0.
The loss ended Oscoda's season-ending three-game win streak and advanced the Braves to Wednesday's semifinal against Houghton Lake.
"This was a good and convincing win tonight," said Tawas coach Ken Cook. "We played well and I was pleased to get a look at the freshmen who we brought up to varsity for the rest of the season."
The Braves got two goals from Alyssa Gracik and one each from Alicia Drumm, Danielle Bird, Amy Gracik and Jenny Jacques.
Goalkeeper Ashley Krumm received credit for her 10th shutout in 11 Tawas wins the season.
