OSCODA - May 23, 2007 - The Oscoda baseball team earned a split with Lincoln Alcona on Wednesday, winning the second game 7-5 after the Tigers came back to steal the opener 7-4.
The Owls led 4-3 heading into the seventh inning of the first game, but Alcona scored four runs to take the win.
The Owls lost despite an 11-strikout performance from pitcher Torib Uchel, who allowed eight hits and walked two while pitching a complete game. Mike Wimmer had two doubles while Barak Henderson and Jason Jimenez each belted triples.
Oscoda held onto its lead in the second game as Jimenez earned came out of the bullpen to pitch three innings of one-hit ball, striking out nine in support of Dustin Crevier, who earned the win.
The Owls took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning that put Oscoda up 5-3.
Wimmer again had two hits and scored three runs and five other players had one hit apiece for Oscoda, which finished the regular season with a 7-18 mark. The Owls open district tournament play on Saturday June 2 in Standish-Sterling against either the host squad or Roscommon.
