BAY CITY CENTRAL - May 29, 2007 - Four Ogemaw Heights pitchers combined to throw a pair of shutouts at Bay City Central on Tuesday as the Falcons defeated the Wolves 6-0 and 5-0.
Rick Dodridge and Ryan Bragg combined to throw a three-hitter in the opener, with Dodridge walking two and striking out eight in the first 4-2/3 innings and Bragg whiffing two in the final 2-13.
Matt Faiman had two hits, two stolen bases and an RBI, Rob Goulette had one hit and two RBIs and Michael Pacella scored two runs as the Falcons scored all their runs in the first two innings.
In the second game, Faiman and Alex Jennings limited the Wolves to one it. Faiman got the win, throwing the first five innings, walking four and striking out eight, while Jennings threw two hitless innings and struck out one.
"Ryan (Bragg) was himself and Alex (Jennings) has learned to pitch to contact and trust his defense," said Ogemaw coach Jeremiah Peace. "He has gotten better each of the three times he was out there.
"Our pitching is right where where want it going into Saturday. We have three guys ready to go."
Seven Falcons (27-6) had one hit apiece, with Anthony Betancourt, Kyle Wangler and Jake Wangler each driving in runs. Kelvin Page, Aaron Kihn, Goulette and Bragg each got hit by pitches in the game.
"Offensively we weren't as sharp," Peace said. "They threw some good pitching at us. We were patient and drew a lot of walks and had five kids hit by pitches. We moved runners and did some good things. Betancourt had a great bunt that turned into a run and a base hit."
